Shirley has been an active member of U3A Manningham since 2011 and a tutor of the course “Introduction to Genetics” since 2013. She is also serving in the curriculum area as the New Courses Coordinator, enlisting new tutors and assisting them in course development.

She has over forty years experience in Science Education as a teacher, and later as a director of curriculum. She is the author of several VCE Biology and Environmental Science textbooks.

Retirement interests include engagement in the activities of grandchildren (an involvement which she shares with husband Philip), gardening, reading and writing.
