Join local historian Jim Poulter on a guided walk near the Yarra in Templestowe. Learn about the original owners and their uses of local plants and the harvest of local fish and fresh water oysters. We may stop for morning tea at a James Street cafe afterwards.

MARVELOUS MELBOURNE – “LITTLE LON & CHINA TOWN”

Take a train, freeway bus or tram to the city. Meet at 10.00am by the park bench in front of the Australasian College of Surgeons; on the north-east corner of Spring and Lonsdale streets, opposite Parliament Station.

We will visit the diverse and colorful social history of this corner of our city. After this, there will be an opportunity to share lunch with friends.
This outing will involve a slow 90 min walk, sometimes over uneven footpaths, cobbles and bluestones, and will include some standing. Participants should ensure they are comfortable with this. Make sure to bring a sunhat and water bottle.

Take a train, freeway bus, or tram to the city. Meet at 10.00am on the front steps of the State Library in Swanston Street, opposite Melbourne Central, on the south-east corner of Swanston and La Trobe streets.
We will take in a number of Melbourne’s iconic “deco” buildings. After this, there will be an opportunity to lunch with friends.
This outing will involve a 90 min walk, sometimes over uneven footpaths, and will include some standing. Participants should ensure they are comfortable with this. Make sure to bring a sunhat and water bottle.

MARVELOUS MELBOURNE-“OLD TREASURY MUSEUM”

Take a train, freeway bus or tram to the city. Meet at 10,00am by the park bench in front of the Australasian College of Surgeons, on the north-east corner of Spring and Lonsdale streets, opposite Parliament Station.
We will take a guided tour of the “Old Treasury Museum; learn about the history of the Yarra River and those who lived beside it; the early years of Melbourne town; and the gold vaults built to store bullion mined during the gold rush. After this there will be an opportunity to share lunch with friends.
This outing will involve a slow walk, sometimes over uneven footpaths. Whilst the museum has an accessibility entrance, lifts and stairs available to rest, the visit is likely to include some steps and some standing. Participants should ensure they are comfortable with this. Make sure to bring a sunhat and water bottle


Cost $15 payable direct to Tutor prior to Christmas.
