Course Description: Greek for Beginners is an enjoyable and interesting course based on learning through music and songs. Words and phrases will be introduced by memorising lyrics of popular songs.
Cultural events such as the Antipodes festival, Greek Easter and Carnival as well as national days, customs and traditions will be covered on the calendar-appropriate dates.

A Traveller’s Guide to Greece

Course Code and Title: 9880 Greek — A Traveller’s Guide to Greece for Beginners
Tutor: Kay Stubbs
Course Description: This course will run in Terms 1 and 2 and offers you an introduction to basic Greek vocabulary. It will enable communication of basic requests and responses for daily encounters when travelling within Greece. You will also become more familiar with this popular travel destination and gain tips for easy travel to Greece.
This class is for beginners and those who have a passion for the Greek language and culture. For those wishing to get more from their next Greek travel experience, it will give you a broader understanding of Greek people and Greece itself. Some of the topics we cover include how to get around independently, the best Greek islands to visit, and the main tourist attractions on the mainland and beyond. Basic vocabulary and grammar will cover areas such as getting transport, ordering at restaurants, what to do in case of emergencies etc. If you would like to learn about Greek culture and what Greece has to offer you as a tourist, then this is the course for you.
