Heart Disease

Class description:

Heart disease is by far the commonest cause of death in Australian adults. The term ‘heart attack’ is used frequently in the media, but do you actually know what it means, how it might affect you and what you can do to avoid it? These 2 sessions will explain in lay terms exactly what heart disease and heart attack mean, how and why they happen, what the main risk factors are and how best to minimise your risks. Presented by a local cardiologist with over 30 years’ experience in the field.

Presented by Dr Ying Yu, a geriatrician who specialises in aged care, aged psychiatry, geriatric evaluation, general aged care, continence, community-based programs, and rehab in home and residential. She is passionate and committed to providing a holistic, person-centred approach for older people to maintain optimal physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and function.

Living with an Autoimmune Condition

This course is designed for people living with an autoimmune condition who are seeking additional ways to improve their wellbeing when conventional treatment options have been exhausted. Discussion will focus on the potential benefits of nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices and other supportive strategies to enhance quality of life.
