Experience serenity through the presentation of an authentic Chado Tea Ceremony
This is a one-hour interactive session to experience the timeless serenity of Chado, the Way of Tea. Guided by Scott Sōshin, a seasoned Tea Master, you will experience the intricate preparation of authentic quality Matcha Tea.
Scott Sōshin describes how the Chado tradition invites mindfulness and calm through graceful Matcha preparation:
Step into a world of tranquillity and tradition with Chado, the Way of Tea.Commonly known as The Tea Ceremony, Chado elevates the simple act of drinking tea to a transcendental experience.
Grounded in Zen philosophy, Chadoinvites you to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the present moment.
Every detail in this time-honoured practice, from the graceful preparation of the tea utensils to the harmonious design of the service, accentuates the transience of moment and is expressed in the phrase ‘ichi-go ichi-e’, literally, ‘one time, one meeting’. This signifies that each moment in our existence is truly unique and exquisite and in sharing a bowl of tea – now – is a moment never to be repeated. As such, it is the moment when we reveal our true nature. Chado reflects a deep respect for nature, mindfulness, and the interconnectedness of all things.
Beyond its aesthetic beauty, Chado offers profound mental benefits. As you engage in this meditative preparation, your mind and spirit will harmonise and your body unwind into an attentive but naturally relaxed state. The gentle rhythm of the tea preparation promotes mindfulness, reduces stress, and fosters a sense of calm and clarity. Chado is a transformative experience that nourishes the soul.
Join us and discover how a simple bowl of tea can create a sanctuary of stillness and human connectivity in today’s busy and hectic world.
