In a Zen-focused tradition, Tea Master Scott Soshin engaged a group of our U3AM members in a unique way of preparing tea that placed us in an ambience of quiet stillness, calmness and inner harmony. The session was held on a Friday afternoon – an appropriate time to help participants unwind and relax after a busy week and to concentrate on their inner self.
The interactive session included a demonstration of how the tea was gracefully prepared. This was accompanied by Scott’s explanation of the cultural and spiritual significance of the occasion. Meanwhile the tea was served to participants together with mochi, a sweet Japanese rice cake.
The tea ceremony will be repeated on three Fridays – 14, 21 and 28 March. The sessions on 14 and 21 March are fully booked. There are a few spots left for 28 March. Members who are interested can enrol online via the Special Projects tab.
