TITLE

Manningham University of the Third Age (U3A) provides a stimulating social and learning environment for senior members of the community. It was formed following a meeting initiated by the then Doncaster & Templestowe Council and commenced activity in October 1991 when 12 classes were offered to about 35 members. In 2011 some 180 classes were conducted by 135 tutors for a membership of about 1550.

Our mission is to provide accessible and affordable educational, cultural, physical and social opportunities appropriate to the needs of retired and semi-retired people. There are no entry requirements and no examinations.

Tutors and office bearers provide their services free. Costs are kept as low as possible. Currently, the annual membership fee is $40. A concession fee of $20 is extended to members of other U3As. This fee enables you to attend most classes with no additional payment. However, course/facility fees apply to some classes where costs are incurred in hiring or purchasing of equipment and/or rental of facilities. Costs may also apply in some classes for materials or class notes. (Note: No course/facility fees are payable in 2012)
The classes offered depend on the availability of volunteer tutors. Volunteers for existing and new areas are always welcome.
